The Jenny Waelder Hall Center for Children

The Jenny Waelder Hall Center for Children, Inc. (JWHCC) is dedicated to facilitating the development of preschool children with social and learning challenges. We aim to promote the understanding of social and cognitive development in young children among parents, teachers, caretakers, and others involved in their care and education.

The JWHCC provides a play-based nursery school program for 3-6 year olds. We work with children who may have difficulty in larger preschool settings. Typical concerns include social challenges, mild language delays, sensory and processing issues, and anxiety.  Many students have moved into mainstream programs, and all have shown gains in social and play skill development.

The Center reaches out to the local community through our consultation program. We provide a free consultation service for area preschools and day care centers that need professional guidance in thinking through a range of school-based issues. The Center also offers parent education and guidance services to help promote successful parent-child relationships.

JWHCC has an internship/research program which includes interns from schools of psychology, social work and education.

JWHCC's social skills practice group provides an opportunity for children to practice interacting with peers. Early childhood specialists serve as coaches.
